What is a Mummy?

Well, in our exhibition it certainly isn't the female of daddy! Then what is a mummy? Many people think of mummies as bandaged human forms and associate them with horror films such as the "Curse of the Mummy" while others regard them as somewhat humorous characters in cartoons. Whatever the image, Egyptian mummies have gripped people’s imagination and have been a source of wonder, mystery and magic. The dictionary definition describes it as "A dead human body embalmed and dried after the manner of the ancient Egyptians. A body preserved in a dry state from the process of putrefaction."
